In its heyday New Brighton was the accepted rendezvous for theatre goers and with seven theatres, was rich in live entertainment. From the 1890s to the outbreak of World War Two and shortly afterwards, hundreds of top stars trod the boards and enthusiastic audiences filled the seats of The Tivoli, Winter Gardens, Tower Theatre, Pier Pavilion, Palace Theatre and the Victoria Gardens Pavilion.
