Nearest Main line station: Waterloo (with main line rail links to South West London; and as far away as Portsmouth and Exeter)From Waterloo station follow exit signs towards Southbank/County Hall attractions and then follow signs to York Road and walk a few minutes along the road and County Hall will be on your left.Bus - Bus routes to County Hall include the no. 211, 77 and 381. Driving - Driving to Witness for the Prosecution may be challenging due to the theatres central London location. Usually it is quicker and easier to take public transport to reach them. If you do need to drive, there are three car parks within walking distance located around the South Bank area. London County Hall is a six-storey building that was opened by King George V in 1922, having taken 11 years to build. The North and South blocks of the building were later added in 1939. It was designed by Ralph Knott and was made with Portland stone in an Edwardian baroque style.The County Hall was the headquarters for the local government of London for 64 years, before transitioning into a privately-owned building. Following conflict between Labour politician Ken Livingstone and the government of Conservative Margaret Thatcher, it was decided that the Greater London Council which held residency at the building would be abolished. This led to a period in which various plans were suggested for the new purpose of the building, all of which were denied. In current times, the London County Hall is the site of many businesses and tourist attractions, including the London Dungeons, London Sea Life Aquarium, and the Namco amusement arcade. Parts of the building have also been used as hotel accommodation and even a Saatchi art gallery. The site has also been used as an attraction venue by Merlin Entertainments. It holds one of the city’s prime positions on the River Thames and sits beside the south side of Westminster Bridge.
