Redbridge Creates Theatre Company presents
Disney's Beauty and the Beast

Based on the Academy Award-winning animated feature, the stage version includes all of the wonderful songs written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman, along with new songs by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice. The original Broadway production ran for over thirteen years and was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The Kenneth More Theatre was named after the much loved British Film and Stage actor Kenneth More who died in 1982. Featuring a steeply raked auditorium which seats 350 with a proscenium arch stage with fly tower and orchestra pit for 26 musicians. It was designed by the Borough Architect and officially opened on 3 January 1975.

It aims to present a varied programme of comedy, dance, theatre plus regular productions by local amateur dramatics groups and an annual pantomime, which has been running since 1975. The building is owned by the London Borough of Redbridge and was leased to the Redbridge Theatre Company Ltd until 2019, at which time Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure Ltd took over the Theatre’s management and operation. Since 2019, the Theatre has had a number of upgrades to the lighting, sound and technical equipment, as well as refurbishment to the auditorium and front of house areas including ‘Kenny’s’ - our new accessible foyer bar that opened in 2021.
