The Rhoda McGaw Theatre is part of the New Victoria Theatre, Woking’s cultural hub for theatre and the arts. The project forms part of the Woking Centre Halls complex, a cultural redevelopment project of Woking’s town centre. It is named after the late councillor Rhoda McGaw in recognition of her tireless efforts to create funding for arts-based events in Woking.

The venue is known colloquially as ‘The Rhoda’, and first opened its doors in 1975. It is an intimate theatre, with a capacity of 228 seats in 9 rows of raised seating, which is well recognised for its excellent acoustics. It hosts several genres including opera, concert, and film.

In the 1980s, the Rhoda McGaw Theatre had become such an important part of the theatrical community that when there were calls for demolition of the theatre, local groups fought successfully for its survival. The theatre had to close for the renovation, which included the addition of the 1300-seat New Victoria Theatre which now forms part of the same building.

The Rhoda McGaw Theatre hosts a varied programme of entertainment all year-round with works to suit all types of theatre-goer, including opera, plays, pantomimes and some of the most successful amateur productions in the South-East of England.
