The Vaudeville Theatre opened in 1870 and is located on the Strand. As its name suggests, the theatre originally hosted vaudeville shows but has since hosted a variety of acclaimed performances.

In more recent years, it has hosted the long-running Stomp, an Oscar Wilde season produced by Classic Spring, and was the venue which held the well-publicised revival of Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin’s acting career.

The current building was constructed in 1926, replacing the previous theatre which had stood there since 1882. A proposed redevelopment of the Covent Garden area in 1968 saw the theatre under threat of closing, but it was thankfully saved by a ‘Save London Theatre’ public campaign.

As of 2005, it is one of five theatres owned by Nimax Theatres and has a capacity of 690 audience members spread over three levels. Today, it is a thriving venue, and hosts many acclaimed West End productions.
