Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is a London landmark, situated within the Queen Mary’s Gardens section of Regent’s Park, near Baker Street station. An award-winning theatre, it holds a programme of summertime shows in its unique open-air setting – both its stage and auditorium are completely uncovered. It is also home to one of the longest bars in any London theatre, stretching the entire length of its seating.

Established in 1932, by acting duo Sydney Carroll and Robert Atkins, the theatre originally specialised in classic plays and Shakespeare productions. Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is a registered charity and has had famous board members such as Judi Dench supporting its work. The theatre has also acted as an inspiration for other open-air venues across the globe, including the Maynardville Open-Air Theatre in Cape Town and Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre in Chester.

In 2007, the Regent’s Park Open Air acknowledged its final year under the artistic leadership of director, Ian Talbot. The send-off season included productions of Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Lady Be Good which was the first musical he directed at the park.

The Regent’s Park Open Air continues to present a vibrant programme of plays, musicals, and operas to the hundreds of audience members who attend each year.
