The Hippo Lounge: Open from 10am Monday to Saturday. Accessed via the new main entrance on Parkgate, the Hippo Lounge is at the heart of the restored theatre. This contemporary café provides a relaxed atmosphere throughout the day along with access to free wi-fi, and a selection of light bites and hot and cold beverages.
The theatre boasts accessible bars on all levels; perfect places to meet and relax before the show and during the interval.

Darlington Hippodrome opened its doors once more on Saturday 18 November 2017 following an extensive, 18 month multi-million pound restoration project made possible by a successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid.The project included the restoration of the distinctive exterior of the theatre and the beautiful Edwardian auditorium a modern new entrance and promenade galleries celebrating its heritage and the history of theatre in Darlington; the creation of a stunning vaulted function room in the former water tower, as well as improved seating with more leg room and disabled access; including two lifts, providing access to all levels both front and back of house. There has been an increase in seats to over 1000, which together with improved back stage facilities for touring companies, enables larger shows to be accommodated. A new education centre and improved public spaces support a vibrant new range of daytime learning and engagement activities.Darlington Hippodrome is a contemporary celebration of theatre and heritage, a place with a new name and a bright new future.
