Show information
Few operas capture the beauty, emotion and heartbreak of human devotion quite like Puccini's Madama Butterfly. Set in Japan at the turn of the twentieth century, this timeless masterpiece tells the poignant story of Cio-Cio-San, a young geisha whose faith in love leads to one of opera's most moving and unforgettable conclusions.
When Butterfly marries the American naval officer Pinkerton, she believes she has found happiness and the promise of a new life. Turning away from her family and traditions, she gives herself completely to a future built on hope. But as time passes, that hope becomes a test of loyalty, courage and sacrifice.
Puccini's score is filled with music of extraordinary beauty and tenderness. From the soaring aria One Fine Day to the unforgettable Love Duet and the haunting Humming Chorus, Madama Butterfly contains some of the most celebrated melodies in all opera. Its emotional power has captivated audiences for more than a century and continues to resonate with modern theatregoers around the world.
This spectacular production by the Dnipro Opera brings the story vividly to life with magnificent costumes, atmospheric staging, outstanding international soloists and the full richness of a live orchestra.
A breath-taking evening of passion, beauty and unforgettable music.
