What is Love Your Local Theatre?

Love Your Local Theatre is a campaign run in partnership between The National Lottery and Society of London Theatre and UK Theatre, with £1million in funding given to support theatregoing.

Theatre Tokens powered the 2023 campaign, with any National Lottery players able to claim a free £25 Theatre Voucher to be spent at one of 300 theatres across the UK.

By using the Theatre Tokens technology, the £25 Theatre Voucher can be redeemed at any of the scheme's 300 theatres nationwide by calling, booking in-person and even by email or online at some selected venues. The only difference between this voucher and a Theatre Token is that there is an expiry date, but you can spend your voucher on any performance currently on sale – even as far in the future as pantos and Christmas shows!

How do I claim my voucher?

You will need to play a National Lottery draw based game, Instant Win Game or Scratchcard, or dig out the information of a previous play since 1 January 2023. You will then need to type in a reference number from your ticket, Scratchcard or Instant Win Game into the LoveYourLocalTheatre.com website and then you’ll be emailed your free £25 Theatre Voucher. Vouchers will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Where can I find the reference number on my Lotto ticket, Scratchcard or Instant Win game?

We have a handy guide to help you find your numbers here.

If you are still having issues, please contact us on enquiries@theatretokens.com or by calling 020 3011 0755 and we will help.

How do I redeem my voucher?

You must check the redemption options at the theatre you wish to see a show at. All theatres accept these vouchers over the phone and in-person, but some also allow redemption via email and even online. You can find out how your chosen theatre takes redemptions on the Theatre Tokens Where To Use page.

Do I have to show my National Lottery ticket at the theatre?

No, you do not have to take your National Lottery ticket or proof of purchase to the theatre, you will have booked theatre tickets directly with the theatre using the voucher. They will then provide your tickets to the show.

Can I spend more than £25 on theatre tickets?

Yes, the £25 voucher can be used as part payment to higher value tickets. You will just need to pay the difference.

What if the theatre ticket costs less than £25?

If the tickets cost less than your £25 voucher, the remaining balance will be available to use on another purchase. Please note the voucher must be used by the expiry date.

The voucher has an expiry date but the show I want to see is on later this year, can I still use it?

Yes, the voucher must be spent by the expiry date, but you can use it for any show at participating theatres that are currently on sale.

Can I buy a ticket for a child?

The voucher can only be claimed by National Lottery players aged 18+ but the voucher can be used for any theatre ticket at participating theatres regardless of age. Please note occasionally a theatre production will have a lower age limit but this would be detailed in the show’s information at the point of booking.

Will I have to pay anything extra?

The theatres may charge a booking fee on top of the cost of the theatre ticket. The £25 voucher can be used towards this cost. If the ticket and fees are more than £25 then you will need to top up the payment through the usual payment methods.

Do I need to book tickets separately or can I use more than one voucher when booking?

If you are attending the theatre as a pair or group, you can redeem multiple vouchers in a single transaction – allowing everyone in the party to redeem their voucher during a single booking, making it easy to ensure you can all sit together.

How do I change my booking?

Once you have redeemed your voucher with a theatre, any further communication about your theatre tickets will need to be directly with the theatre.

What if my local theatre is not listed on the website?

There are around 300 participating theatres, to find your nearest theatre please look on the website. If you cannot find your local theatre that means they are not part of the Theatre Tokens scheme or the Love Your Local Theatre campaign and therefore will not accept the voucher.

Can I claim a voucher if I don’t play The National Lottery?

No, this offer is only available to National Lottery players.

How will Love Your Local Theatre take Covid into account?

All participating theatres will be expected to follow any Government Covid-19 guidelines that are still applicable and to ensure the safety and wellbeing of their customers and staff is prioritised.

My National Lottery code says invalid?

If the code is showing as invalid when you enter it on the website please check again and then contact enquiries@theatretokens.com or call 020 3011 0755 who will be able to help.

The show I want to see is sold out, what do I do?

Sorry your choice of show was sold out, this is out of our control. Please take a look at the theatre’s website for alternative shows or use our map to find which other theatres are taking part. Please remember that once you have claimed the voucher you must spend by the expiry date.

I’m struggling to complete my booking - what do I do?

If you need any help with your booking please email enquiries@theatretokens.com or call 020 3011 0755 who will be able to assist you.

I’m in a wheelchair/I have mobility issues – will there be suitable access and facilities for me?

If you have any special accessibility requirements, you will need to claim your voucher using the standard process but we recommend liaising with the theatre that you wish to visit to understand how they can assist you with your accessibility needs before claiming the voucher.

How will my data be handled?

When you claim your voucher, your data will be handled by Society of London Theatres and Theatre Tokens according to this Privacy Policy.
