Theatre car parks are on both sides of the theatre and can only be approached from the city-bound carriageway of the Coast Road (A1058). If you are coming out of the city use the Chillingham Road roundabout to turn back down onto the Coast Road.

There is limited parking at the Theatre. Should it be necessary to park elsewhere, please DO NOT PARK on Beatrice Road, Holderness Road or in the Corner House car park as fines may apply. Please leave enough time to find a parking space, and park responsibly with consideration for local residents.


The Foyer Bar is open on performance nights from an hour before the play starts. Interval drinks can be pre-ordered on the night before the performance.

There is step-free access to the foyer bar, the Studio Theatre and the Main Auditorium.

There are up to five spaces within our Main Auditorium assigned for audience members using a wheelchair. Advance booking is advised, and these spaces can be booked by telephoning the Box Office.

The Studio Theatre has flexible seating which changes from play to play. Audience members requiring a wheelchair space for a Studio Theatre production, please telephone the Box Office and this can be booked in. Advance booking is advised.

There is an accessible toilet in the foyer.

The People's Theatre is the leading non-professional theatre company in the North of England and one of the largest and oldest established in the country.

The People's stages up to fourteen productions a year in their 500-seat main auditorium and in their flexible studio space. The People's Theatre recently completed a £1.6 million redevelopment project which transformed the frontage, foyer and bar and allowed them to build the new Studio Theatre. The venue is now fully accessible for wheelchair and mobility restricted users.

As a genuine community theatre, the People's Theatre is able to give people from all walks of life the experience of participating in all aspects of theatre.
