“I’m old-fashioned...” sings Cate Cody in a hauntingly beautiful voice that has been compared to a young Peggy Lee.She might be describing herself, because these days it's very rare to find a Jazz chanteuse with authentic phrasing, who genuinely understands the nuances, is capable of capturing the idiomatic gradations and modulations required to Swing. Indeed, most of the songs she has chosen to put her stamp on belong to that great age of song sophistication, coming from the pen of the masters of the art. She does full justice to them, their melodies caressing, lyrics expressing, reflecting on their subtleties and breathing new life into them. For this special session, Cate is delighted to be accompanied by Tom Kincaid (currently pianist for Ellie Brooks) and double bassist Tom Mark, both the first choice of many musicians. The trio will be performing an eclectic mix of gems from the 1920s to the 1950s.

2017 marked three major anniversaries in the Palestinian struggle: the centenary of the Balfour declaration, the fiftieth year of Israel’s military occupation of the Palestinian territories, and the tenth year of the blockade of Gaza.To change the record after a century of injustice, a pilgrimage set out to walk from London to Jerusalem – in penance, solidarity, and hope. This was the inspiration of award-winning playwright and actor Justin Butcher who worked with human rights charity Amos Trust to mount the Just Walk to Jerusalem, June – November 2017.Along Roman roads and refugee routes, with occasional outbreaks of blisters, tear gas and desert spirituality, virtuoso storyteller Justin Butcher traces the perils, pratfalls and marvels of the path to Jerusalem. A chronicle of serendipity: happenstances hilarious, infuriating and occasionally numinous – or, as pilgrims might say, encounters with the Divine.
