Nuffield Southampton Theatres (NST) is one of the UK’s leading professional theatre companies, commissioning, developing and producing fresh, vital experiences through theatre. NST has developed a profile and reputation for innovation and quality delivering work on a national and international scale, taking work to London and Dubai, whilst acting as a major cultural force for good in the city of Southampton.

As well as its own produced work, NST’s programme includes the best touring theatre from local, national and international artists, children’s theatre, comedy, dance, circus, film and music.

In February 2018, NST will open a second venue in Southampton’s city centre, NST City, with the world premiere of Howard Brenton’s The Shadow Factory. NST City will include a flexible 450 seat main house theatre, a 133 seat studio, screening facilities, rehearsal and workshop spaces. NST will run the new city centre venue alongside its existing theatre, NST Campus, on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus. NST will remain equally committed to both venues.

NST is an Arts Council National Portfolio Organisation and a registered charity, receiving additional core funding from the University of Southampton and Southampton City Council. In 2015, NST was awarded Regional Theatre of the Year at The Stage Awards. In 2017, NST won The Renee Stepham Award for Best Presentation of Touring Theatre for its brand new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr Fox, in co-production with Curve Leicester and in association with Lyric Hammersmith, at the UK Theatre Awards.


NST Campus is located on Highfield Campus, University of Southampton.

NST City is located in Guildhall Square in the heart of Southampton


NST Campus: Free parking in the university car parks after 5pm on weekdays and all day at weekends. A small pay and display car park is available during the day, along with some street parking in the surrounding area.

NST City: Nearby pay and display car parks are within walking distance at Grosvenor Square Car Park, Bedford Place, Civic centre Forecourt and West Quay Car Park. All car parks have accessible spaces for Blue Badge holders.

NST Campus: Freshly prepared food is available every day from 11:30am - 2:30pm and every show night from 5:30pm until 30 minutes before the advertised start time. No reservation required, please order at the bar.


NST Campus: Our drinks menu has a great range of wines, ales, ciders, and spirits, all of which can be pre ordered before the show when you buy your tickets. We also take interval orders so when you’re buying your drink before the show starts simply ask a member of staff if you can you buy your interval drinks at the same time and they’ll have them waiting for you.
