The theatre is an example of a repertory theatre which was designed to emulate the style of opera houses in Europe. It has a two-tier seating layout which has capacity for 781 people. The theatre welcomes some of the best touring companies to its stage, and presents an eclectic programme of musicals, drama, dance, comedy, family shows and pantomimes. It is also known for hosting music artists for one-night special shows.
