The Churchill Theatre was opened in 1977 by HM Prince of Wales and has been one of South East London’s premier theatres ever since. The theatre, which is situated in Bromley, was integrated into the Bromley Library building and was designed with an underground auditorium to disguise the true size of the theatre. The theatre is an example of a repertory theatre which was designed to emulate the style of opera houses in Europe. It has a two-tier seating layout which has capacity for 781 people. The theatre welcomes some of the best touring companies to its stage, and presents an eclectic programme of musicals, drama, dance, comedy, family shows and pantomimes. It is also known for hosting music artists for one-night special shows. They are proud to present regular ‘Bromley Premiere’ shows to its audiences, which is an on-going collection of productions that feature at the Churchill Theatre before transferring to the West End or making national tours. The Churchill Theatre is a popular theatre which is happy to welcome over 150,000 theatre-goers every year. The venue’s large auditorium and modern facilities including several bars, spacious foyer and refreshment kiosks mean that this venue comfortably accommodates large audiences.
