Richard Herring: Can I Have My Ball Back?
From:14-06-2024
To:14-06-2024
+ More Info +

In 2021 Richard Herring went to his GP to find out why his right ball seemed to be growing bigger. It turned out that he had testicular cancer and one month later he was lying in hospital waiting to have his murderous gonad removed. Would he survive? (No spoilers!).

For a comedian who had done a whole show on male genitalia (Talking Cock) and written a book about toxic masculinity (The Problem With Men) this felt like some cruel trick of fate.

In his much-anticipated return to stand-up after six years, Richard talks bollocks and answers the question on everyone’s lips: Is a severed gonad in a jar a fitting prize to bring in for Taskmaster

Spinners
From:28-06-2024
To:29-06-2024
+ More Info +

Spinners is a new play, written and directed by Kelly Jordan, that brings two epic music subcultures, the 70s Northern Soul scene and 90s clubbing, together on the dance floor.

It acknowledges the key role that Leicester’s fashionable youth played in these trailblazing movements, and the rituals and behaviours that defined each era and its crowd. Based on true accounts, it is a coming-of-age story that spans just over 20-years, from the mid-70s to the mid-90s.

The play will pay homage to some of the local venues, record shops, and DJs from back in the day, as well as travelling to some of the most iconic clubs from both music scenes. Excitingly, a DJ will be playing live, and spinning some of the most treasured vinyl in-between each scene. So, get ready because ‘Long After Tonight is All Over’, you will still be singing the songs and remembering the ‘Promised Land’.
